Future Feminine - Refracting
Here’s a very personal story, many people don’t know about me… Right when I married my husband in 2016, he told me he had gender dysphoria. He had never expressed this to anyone before and told me not to tell anyone. Over the next 3 years, his curiosity shifted into a path towards complete transformation of becoming a gendered woman. This shocking uncovering propelled me into a deep exploration into my understanding of femininity in myself and beyond. As I was alone with this news and experience, I do what serves me best in understanding my psyche, I make art. Future Feminine became a series of work to host my visual meditations while I unpacking my feelings around ‘losing my husband.’ Visualizing the 'exercise of femininity' and the iterations within the realm of beauty and perceptions.
